Woke up early at our campsite in Death Valley and headed up the 5500ft to Dante’s View with the morning sun on the west side of that park, it was lovely! Would have been nice to get up there for sunrise, but there are limits as to what I’ll do for a photo, haha. After that we headed off for Vegas, Garth booked us a room at Paris for the night while driving though Parumph (not my first choice of places to live) and we rolled down the strip with the dirty truck loving it! After we had our first shower in a couple of days we grabbed a few beers and wandered around town. Vegas is as I remembered it, but with many more hotels and buildings now – I was last here in 2002 so there’s a lot of new stuff.
Garth learned I had never gotten a free drink playing the slot machines, so we went in search of some old ladies playing the 1 cent machines, it worked! A couple beers and rye and cokes later we were off to find dinner. We decided on the buffet in Paris, and found that for an extra $5 you can access 6 other buffets for the next 24 hours. It was tasty, and a few hours later I went for 2nd dinner at the Planet Hollywood buffet. The next morning we went again to the buffet in Paris, so I think we got our money’s worth!
Up next – Hoover dam, Sedona and the Grand Canyon!
