RAIN! Woke up to lots of rain. Thought about driving up to Lake Tahoe, or over to Yosemite, but the highway over the mountains from Yosemite was closed so we decided that Highway 1 along the coast had treated us well so far so we decided to continue on it. It was a wet, windy drive but it was still beautiful and a lot of fun. This was the first time I saw the “Falling Rocks” signs prove their worth – there were rocks all over the road because of the rain. Saw a poor little Honda drive over a big one hitting the undercarriage all the way along (good ol truck drove right over it). Said goodbye to the Pacific Ocean and headed in towards Bakersfield as we found a big room at the Double Tree for $37 a night (Priceline.com rules!)

Weather looks like tomorrow is going to be gross as well but Tuesday it should clear up again. We’re planning on Death Valley to Vegas tomorrow so it may be overcast but will likely be dry and I don’t think it ever rains in Death Valley. Looking forward to warmer weather, haven’t been able to pull out the shorts yet!
