Drove out from Salt Lake to Moab – drive was long but good. Arrived in Moab and found a camping spot at the bottom of the famous “Porcupine Rim” bike trail – I think I lucked out as people were driving in and out of the campsite all night looking for a place to stay – but there were more campsites farther up the Colorado river. Went into town and picked up supplies, wood, water, ice. Stopped by Poison Spider bike shop and spent too much money – bought a nice Dakine bag and some bike shorts along with tubes, pump and things I’d need for my ride down Porcupine rim.
The next morning I woke up early, and along with a neighboring camper, drove back into town to the bike shop to get a shuttle up to Porcupine rim. This is a bike trail that has been described as “one of the best ever” – the view certainly lived up to the hype but I’ve been spoiled for trails in BC for sure.
Drove over to Arches national park for sunset but was too tired to hike out to “Delicate Arch” so I shot a few photos from the remote lookout and then drove to the “Windows arches” for the sunset. The moon was coming up and I managed to get a few cool shots of the moon though one of the arches.
All in all, Moab was great and it was nice to get some sunshine and exercise.
