What can I say – Death Valley is an alien, desolate place, but at the same time, beautiful and exciting. We drove out from Bakersfield, found a slower, windier way though the Wildrose entrace (With a great view of the valley) and made our way down into the valley to camp at an elevation of -200 feet below sea level. We rolled in as a big rainstorm was finishing up – not something I ever expected to see there, apparently they only get 3 inches of rain a year. Camping that night was really windy, but the stars came out and it was great. On day 9 we went 4x4ing up Trail Canyon road, we were a few km’s from the top and decided to turn around as the trail was really built for a shorter-wheelbase 4×4 (like a Jeep). We went on a tour around the Badwater salt flats and checked out a few of the sights.
All in all, really enjoyable and the temperature was really reasonable as well (between 15-25 degrees, depending on elevation).
